Los Moles offers some of the tastiest and traditional mexican dining options. With the Bay Area popping up with many restaurants and new locations Chef Lito Saldana has something different and unique in mind for his 3rd location. The theme will be A Beer Garden, and no its not just cleverly titles "Beer" Garden, there will be an actual garden at the El Cerrito location.

There is not an exact date yet for the opening (since I spoke to the Chef and owner) but he says its opening soon and you can bet that means SOON! The restaurant will be featuring a huge array of craft beers and featuring some local Northern CA brews as well. This outdoor beer garden will be featuring 40 + microbrews on tap. The menu for the most part will carry over the same as the other 2 locations which are absolutely delicious and me myself personally wouldn't change a thing! But you never know what the Chef and Owner Lito Saldana has up his sleeve.

It wil be located at - 6120 Potrero AvenueEl Cerrito, CA 94530

Follow on our blog as we get closer to the opening date and Lito has also put it out there that he is selecting a few people to get VIP invites the grand opening. So stay tuned!

Checkout the Article written about us on the EastBay Times By : Rick Raden

EL CERRITO — A Mexican restaurant that has gained a strong foothold in Emeryville and San Rafael will be coming to El Cerrito within a couple of months.

Los Moles, specializing in recipes from Jalisco state in Mexico with fresh, organic ingredients, will open in the building that formerly housed a Carrows restaurant at 6120 Potrero Ave. near San Pablo Avenue.

Los Moles owner and chef Lito Saldana, a native of Jalisco, started creating his own recipes after he came to the United States in 1989 that were based on the cooking of his mother and father and other family members.

“We cook more naturally in Jalisco,” Saldana said. “Our chicken and dairy products are organic. It’s based on everything mom and dad used to cook.”

The house specialty, as the name indicates, is mole, the name for a number of Mexican sauces, and dishes based on those sauces.

Saldana has named his vegetarian and gluten-free moles after the family members who created them, including Mole Mama Luisa and Mole Mama Elena, bearing the names of his mother and grandmother.

There is even a mole margarita, that includes nuts, along with tamarind. Other specialty margaritas include cactus, avocado and cucumber.

Saldana said that the new Los Moles location will also address what he has noticed is a growing customer appetite for beer by offering an outdoor garden featuring about 40 microbrews on tap.

“We have a tequila bar in Emeryville, but more people now drink beer than tequila,” he said.

The El Cerrito Los Moles will feature a couple of promotions already offered at the Emeryville and San Rafael restaurants: Taco Tuesdays, with all-you-can eat tacos for $12, and a $17 all-day brunch buffet on Saturdays and Sundays.

The record for Taco Tuesday taco consumption is 35 by an individual in a single sitting, he said.

Saldana, an El Cerrito resident, said he was encouraged to open a restaurant in his hometown by City Councilman Gabe Quinto, a friend who alerted him to availability of the space after Carrows closed.

“We are always looking for places where there is an existing restaurant we can take over,” he said. “We pick places where our customers in the other restaurants are coming from.”

The Los Moles in Emeryville has been operating for five years and the San Rafael restaurant for two years.

“In the traditional pueblos of Mexico, our mothers and grandmothers prepare enough food, with plenty of tortillas, for family as well as neighbors,” according to the Los Moles website. “Everything is shared, and everyone eats well.”
